What you'll see in this blog:

What is the purpose of ANVISA registration?

The registration of products is a fundamental regulatory requirement to certify the safety, efficacy and quality of commercialized items. In Brazil, ANVISA (the National Health Surveillance Agency) is the body responsible for regulating, inspecting and analyzing registration processes for various segments, such as food, cosmetics, medicines and sanitizers. The main objective of this mechanism is to protect public health, since strict control of the origin, composition and manufacture of products makes it possible to identify and mitigate potential risks to the population. In addition, registration makes it possible to adopt corrective and preventive measures, ensuring that only items that meet the established technical and legal standards are made available on the market.

What does it mean when a product does not need to be registered?

When a product does not need to be registered with ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency), it means that it is not subject to the formal process of evaluation and prior approval by the agency before being marketed. This is because the product in question is considered to be of low risk to health or already has specific regulations that dispense with the need for registration.

ANVISA classifies products into different categories, such as medicines, cosmetics, food, health products, sanitizers, among others. For each category, there are specific criteria that determine whether or not the product needs to be registered. Products that do not require registration are generally subject to less rigorous control, but still need to comply with the quality, safety and efficacy norms and standards established by the agency.

It is important to note that even without registration, the manufacturer or importer is responsible for the safety and quality of the product, and ANVISA can inspect and take action if there are irregularities.
